Aztecs: The Last Sun Hits Version 1.0 On May 22, Adding New Features And Modes

With the release of version 1.0 on May 22, 2026, the survival infused city builder Aztecs: The Last Sun from development team Play2Chill and publisher Toplitz Productions reaches a major milestone. During the early access period, the game saw meaningful updates adding new features and fixes, while streamlining the gaming experience. Community feedback also shaped much of the new content on the path to version 1.0, like the often requested sandbox mode, where you don’t follow a story, but build to your heart’s content while still having to face the challenges of nighttime survival.

The new creative mode removes survival elements entirely, so you can focus on building and terrain editing. Raise Tenochtitlan without limits and build a city to rival the historic splendor that defined a whole civilization, once you unlock all the buildings by surviving the nights in the other game modes.

Additionally, the main campaign is concluded with a new questline that will pit you against the Moon Goddess herself, as you need to enter her temple and defeat her. With new game mechanics like a fourth building level, enhanced god offerings or the Sun Pillar as a new building to decrease the Moon Ghosts‘ strength, the question is not just whether you can survive the night. It is, whether you are worthy of the gods.
