Retro Arcade Shop Simulator Brings the Neon ’80s to PC

A demo of Retro Arcade Shop Simulator, a game about building and running your own retro arcade, arrives on PC on June 11. It lets you buy and place classic arcade cabinets, air hockey tables, basketball machines, driving simulators, and a working bowling area. The full version is planned for release on PC in 2026/2027, with a console release to follow in 2027.

The independent studio Alt Tab Game is responsible for Retro Arcade Shop Simulator. The game is published by Ultimate Games S.A. and Ultimate Publishing.

Build an Arcade Empire Around the Machines

Retro Arcade Shop Simulator lets you step into the neon-lit world of the past and build your own classic arcade from the ground up. You start with a small, dusty venue and transform it into a booming entertainment center packed with coin-operated machines.

The machines are the heart of the experience. You buy nostalgic arcade cabinets, pinball tables, claw machines, and high-end attractions, then arrange your floor plan to keep customers moving and the tokens rolling in. The full game features 28 distinct types of entertainment, from classic Arcade Cabinets, Galaxy Pinball, and Whack-A-Mole to Plane Simulators, Go-Karts, and immersive 8D Cinemas, spread across up to 10 unlockable rooms.

Running the place means more than plugging in cabinets. You manage a token economy, hire staff to keep machines repaired and floors clean, and customize the venue with wall textures, neon signs, and lighting. And since you are a player too, almost every machine in the full game is fully interactive, so you can jump in and set the high score yourself.

What You Can Try in the Demo

Starting June 11, players can download the Retro Arcade Shop Simulator Demo on Steam. The demo covers the first four progression levels, so you can learn the core business loop and the basics of passive income before the full release.

In the demo, you can place six distinct types of attractions. Line up classic Arcade Cabinets, set out an Air Hockey table for quick matches, and install a Basketball machine for the high-score crowd. For larger draws, install Car and Motorcycle Simulators or construct a full Bowling Area as the centerpiece of your floor. The Bowling Area is also the best way to see the hourly income system in action, showing how the right machines turn a quiet room into a steady source of tokens.

You can unlock up to three rooms and arrange your layout the way you want. Customization is part of the early experience too: apply six wall and floor textures and tune the neon lighting to build your ideal 80s hangout. To keep customers fueled, you also manage a cafeteria and sell basic products, and you can hire a Cashier and a Cafeteria Employee to automate your first operations.

Please note that the demo does not let you play the arcade machines or simulators yourself. That feature is part of the full game. The demo concentrates on buying and placing machines, early tycoon progression, customization, and management.
