Be Water, My Friend: Action Adventure Game, Fading Echo, is Out Now and It’s About to Make a Splash

The wait is over. The portals are open. And One is already making a mess of everything.

New Tales and Emeteria announced the launch of Fading Echo, a new action-adventure RPG available now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are scheduled to release later this year.

In Fading Echo, players take control of One, a young Legend who never chose her gift. Blessed (or cursed) with the power of Æther, she can shift between human and water blob forms, bending the elements to her will. But beneath the fast-paced combat, traversal, and mind-bending puzzles lies a deeper question: who is One, really? As a fractured multiverse teeters on the edge of collapse, threatened by a mysterious force known as the Paradox, she must fight not just to save it, but to find her place within it.

Players step into the waterlogged shoes of One, a young Legend dumped headfirst into a fractured multiverse where ancient forces are waking up, dimensions are colliding, and a mysterious entity called the Paradox is very committed to ruining everyone’s day. No pressure. (Okay, some pressure. It’s a multiverse crisis.)

At the heart of Fading Echo is a systemic gameplay framework built around water and elemental interactions. Players can transform into water to traverse environments, discover hidden paths, solve environmental puzzles, and create new combat opportunities. Water, vapor, terrain, enemies, and elemental forces react to one another, encouraging experimentation and allowing players to approach encounters in multiple ways.

As One unlocks new abilities, exploration and combat evolve alongside the world itself, creating opportunities for creative solutions and emergent gameplay throughout the adventure.

One’s journey begins in Corel – a reality held together with good intentions and not much else, made of floating islands, unstable portals, forgotten civilizations, and creatures that weren’t in anyone’s original plans. From there, Aetheric portals lead players to realities where the rules constantly shift: environments mutate, ecosystems react to player abilities, and ancient technologies do whatever they want. Mastering Fading Echo isn’t about memorizing systems – it’s about understanding how those systems collide, and then very deliberately causing that collision.

Saving a multiverse is a team sport. Along the way, One will meet unlikely heroes, dysfunctional family members, ancient mysteries, and at least one flying whale that we’re still not explaining.

Some things are better discovered for yourself.

To bring this crew to life, Fading Echo features a star-studded English voice cast, including Samantha Béart, Laura Bailey, Matt Mercer, Liam O’Brien, Sam Riegel, and Jasmine Bhullar alongside an original soundtrack designed by the talented Maxwell Sterling to accompany every shift, crash, leap, and hard-earned discovery.

Fading Echo started with a simple dream: creating a world players could truly play with,” said Sylvain Sechi, Head of Studio at Emeteria. “Every mechanic, every puzzle, every environment was designed to encourage experimentation and reward curiosity. Seeing players finally dive into the game is incredibly exciting for the entire team.”

“From the start, our goal was to create a world that players could truly experiment with. In Fading Echo, water isn’t just a power, it’s a way of interacting with the entire game.” said Emmanuel Obert, Chief Content Officer at New Tales. “Whether you’re exploring, solving puzzles, or fighting enemies, we wanted every system to encourage curiosity and reward creative thinking.”

Fading Echo is the result of years of passion, creativity, and collaboration from the entire team. From the very beginning, our ambition was to create a world that sparks curiosity and rewards exploration. Seeing that vision come to life has been an incredible journey, and we’re excited for players to finally experience everything we’ve built.” – Sylvain Sechi, Studio Head at Emeteria

Fading Echo is available for $19.99 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will follow later this year.
