WTF – Waifu Tactical Force Opens Public Pre-Alpha Playtest June 4-9 During Summer Games Fest

Independent studio Extremely Normal (formerly Team Waifu) announced the next open playtest for WTF – Waifu Tactical Force, the multiplayer anime movement FPS currently in development for PC. The playtest opens Thursday, June 4 at 12 PM CEST / 6 AM EDT / 6 PM SGT and runs through Tuesday, June 9 at 6 AM CEST / 12 AM EDT / 12 PM SGT, coinciding with Summer Games Fest and the Future Games Show. Players can join by visiting the WTF Steam page at wtf.gg and clicking Request Access. Anyone who signs up before June 4 will receive instant access at launch and an email notification when the build goes live. This marks the third open multiplayer playtest, following more than 50,000 players who joined previous tests on Steam since the game’s announcement at last summer’s Future Games Show.

WTF is a hyperkinetic, wholesome twist on the “modern military shooter.” Inspired by a wave of troubled multiplayer FPS launches, the game is engineered from the ground up to run at 60+ FPS on nearly any PC, with strong netcode across all regions. It’s a contrarian bet that – even after the cancellation of Titanfall 3 – the movement‑driven FPS formula remains evergreen and pairs naturally with anime and mecha aesthetics. The team’s philosophy is simple: you can’t ship a multiplayer shooter that works unless the public breaks it early. Matchmaking, netcode, anti‑cheat, and live operations—the systems that have sunk many recent multiplayer releases – must be stress‑tested by real players from day one.

  • Omniwaifu Movement System: A fully simulated movement system enabling hyperkinetic slides, parkour, and wall‑running.
  • New Mode: Team Deathmatch, featuring two reworked maps.
  • New Weapons: Smart Pistol MK2 and Suppressed Lever‑Action.
  • New Weapon Material System: Expanded skins and cosmetics for every gun.
  • 10 New Waifu Models: Seven brand‑new characters plus three reworked originals from the 2025 Summer Games Fest playtest.

A new WTF trailer will premiere Saturday, June 6 during the Future Games Show, featuring a reveal the studio has never shown publicly before.

Visit the WTF – Waifu Tactical Force Steam page at wtf.gg and click Request Access. Players who do so will be automatically granted access when the build goes live.
