Multiplayer in JDM Launches Today on Steam

June 11 marks a new beginning for the JDM franchise with the launch of the multiplayer component for the game. Available on Steam today, with GoG and Epic Store releases soon to follow, allows for up to 8 player lobbies and total freedom of play in the Open World sandbox.

Multiplayer comes to the game as a free update and will be launching globally at:

  • 09:00 AM PDT
  • 16:00 UTC
  • 18:00 CEST
  • 01:00 AM JST (June 12th)

The console release of the multiplayer component is under development – the developers will share more information as soon as they can commit to a date.

The devs are actively working on supporting full cross-play for the game, beginning with PC cross-play when GoG and Epic versions of the game receive the update.

Multiplayer for JDM will first launch as an Open World sandbox with lobbies of up to 8 players.

Specific game modes are in production and PC players can expect to see them rolling out in Summer of this year.

With implemented Voice Chat, Quick Chat and the ability to mark locations on the map, Drifters should easily group up for car meets, chill-out cruising, tandem drifting and some touge action.

Hosting a multiplayer session will also allow the players to choose the Ghost Mode option, which disables car collisions, for a less stressful tandem driving learning routine.

Later this month, on June 25th, the second DLC for the game, titled American Classics will hit the digital shelves across all platforms. The expansion gives access to six new, unlicensed American cars for $5.99 USD.

On the same day, players can also expect to see a free update adding three new, licensed JDM cars to the game.

Ongoing work also includes the next Side Story Campaign and the heavily anticipated livery system update, which will launch later this year.

With the launch of multiplayer on Steam, the developers are organizing a small get-together with their community on their Discord server, with some team members actively playing in multiplayer and a Discord stream set-up to showcase the mode and answer any questions the community might have.

The developers are starting at 18:00 CEST and they cordially invite anyone interested in participating to join.

Available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
