Blades For Hire, the upcoming tactical mercenary strategy game, will launch its official Steam Playtest on March 9 at 11:00 AM PT, running through March 23 at 11:00 AM PT.
Players who have requested access via Steam will be able to experience a special Playtest build of the game for a limited two-week period.
A Limited-Time Challenge with Exclusive Rewards:
During the Playtest, participants will have the opportunity to unlock a unique in-game reward tied to a special Steam achievement. Players who complete the Playtest and earn the “Old Guard” achievement will receive:
- A unique armor set
- An exclusive two-handed sword
These items will become available at the full release of Blades For Hire.
To unlock the “Old Guard” achievement, players must complete the Playtest without hiring any new recruits. Only the starting mercenaries may be used – and since they can die, flee, or leave if unpaid, the challenge demands careful planning and strategic decision-making.
A full Playtest run takes approximately one hour, allowing players to experiment freely before attempting the achievement challenge.

To qualify for the exclusive reward, players must:
- Add Blades For Hire to their Steam Wishlist
- Follow the publisher’s Steam page
- Earn the “Old Guard” achievement during the Playtest period
