Independent studio Hollow Beak Games announces that the playable demo for Vale’s Echo, its upcoming 2D cozy horror adventure, launched today at 1:00 PM EST on Steam.
In Vale’s Echo, death is not the end – it’s a second chance to face what you left behind. Players awaken as Vale, a sharp-witted and deeply troubled soul who finds herself aboard a mysterious train bound for the underworld. No heartbeat. No memories. No clear way back. Her only companion is Echo – a mischievous floating skull.

The March 2 demo invites players to step into the opening chapter of this surreal world. As Vale searches for fragments of her lost past, she encounters a strange cast of underworld inhabitants – from cheerful fish-human hybrids to dubious spirits with questionable business ethics.

Gameplay in the demo highlights the core experience of Vale’s Echo:
- Dark and witty dialogue choices with impactful consequences;
- Intriguing, slightly unsettling puzzles woven into the world;
- Branching narrative paths shaped by empathy, humor, and moral decisions;
- Hand-crafted 2D cinematic visuals paired with a melancholic, atmospheric soundtrack;
- Chances to pet creatures.
Beneath its eerie charm and absurd humor lies a deeply emotional story about identity, regret, and acceptance.
Step aboard. The train is waiting.
