Farom Studio Announces Age After Age, a New Era-Spanning City Builder Coming to PC and Consoles

Farom Studio is excited to officially announce Age After Age, a next-generation city-building and economic strategy game where players guide their people across both classic historical timelines and alternative eras such as Steampunk and Gothic.

The studio confirms that Age After Age is in active development. While the release date is not being announced yet, the game is planned for PC, Steam Deck, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. The title has already been selected for the ID@Xbox program.

In Age After Age, players begin with a small pier and a few hundred settlers, expanding their society into a complex, interdependent town. The game centers on deep logistics, supply chain management, class-based citizen needs, global trade, and research-driven progression.

What defines the experience is the Era Switching System – a progression model where players can continue through a classic historical timeline or divert into multiple alternative universes, each bringing unique aesthetics, technologies, mechanics, and societal transformations.

Farom Studio also revealed that Age After Age will utilize a new in-house technology:

Environment Control System: Farom Nature

A custom-built environment, weather, and lighting simulation framework designed for all Farom Studio games.

While specific technical details are not disclosed yet, the system handles:

  • Dynamic daily and seasonal weather.
  • Environment responsiveness.
  • Light cycles and atmospheric effects.
  • Era-specific environmental transitions.

This system will directly influence gameplay in Age After Age, adding challenge, storytelling depth, and long-term world evolution.

  • Three Distinct Citizen Classes – Lower, Middle, and Upper Classes with unique needs, roles, and political influence.
  • Deep Logistics Simulation – Roads, ports, fleets, depots, automated transports, and multi-island supply chains.
  • Era Switching System – Advance the classic timeline or diverge into Steampunk, Gothic, or future utopian/dystopian eras.
  • 12 Handcrafted Story Islands – Each with its own scale, biome, mysteries, and lore, revealing the world’s hidden past.
  • Dynamic Global Trade & Diplomacy – Market prices shaped by supply and demand; embargoes, alliances, smuggling networks, and vassalization.
  • Extensive Research & Laws – A lot of unlocks affecting technology, productivity, culture, and governance.
  • Evolving Campaign – Explore a narrative-rich world and uncover the origins of the archipelago.
  • Powered by Farom Nature – A custom proprietary system handling weather cycles, environment behavior, lighting, and world atmosphere.
