Last Axiom Presents the Philosophical Sci-Fi Adventure, Ghost of the Past

Independent developer Last Axiom has announced its debut project — Ghost of the Past, a narrative sci-fi game about the price of human curiosity, scheduled for release in Q4 2026. The game is now available to wishlist on Steam.

At the heart of the story is Captain Adam, a Star Fleet veteran who returns to Mars to finally uncover a mystery that has remained unsolved for ten years. But a routine mission rapidly turns into a nightmare: after his ship crashes, Adam finds himself alone on a merciless planet, hunted by an unseen enemy who seems to know everything about him. Who is it? And what secret is worth protecting so desperately? To survive and uncover the truth, he will have to explore abandoned bases, analyze anomalies, and face choices whose consequences may be catastrophic.

Key Features:

  • A deep, multilayered narrative: Follow the path from investigation to existential crisis. What begins as a detective story on Mars becomes a personal tragedy with unexpected turns that challenge the perception of reality.
  • Choice that shapes fate: Run or fight? Fix the mistake or accept it? Your decisions directly influence the progression of the story and lead to one of several fundamentally different endings, revealing new layers upon replay. Among them is a carefully hidden ending that becomes a reward for players who achieve a fundamental shift in how they perceive their role.
  • Intellect is your weapon: Use an advanced scanner, analyze the environment, listen to recordings left by the dead, and solve puzzles to uncover the truth buried beneath the sands of Mars and layers of deception.
  • Philosophical undertone: The game explores themes of fatalism, the irreversibility of the past, and the devastating price we sometimes pay for curiosity. The central question: is knowledge always a blessing?

Developer Quote (Last Axiom):
“With Ghost of the Past, I wanted to create not just a game, but an experience that stays with you after you finish it. It’s a story about how our past can catch up with us at the most unexpected moment, and about the high price we sometimes pay in our pursuit of truth. I can’t wait to see the choices players make and the conclusions they come to.”
