Over 25,000 demo downloads, 45,000+ wishlists, and 89% positive reviews during the event
Indie developer Gunmetal Games announced today that Rewind 99, its open-world video rental store simulator, will officially launch into Early Access on March 11, 2026 at 10:00 AM CT on Steam. The game will be priced at $11.99 USD with a 20% sale on launch.
The announcement follows a strong showing during Steam Next Fest, where the free demo generated significant player interest. During the event, the game surpassed 45,000 wishlists, reached 184 Steam reviews with an 89% positive rating, and recorded over 25,000 demo downloads. Notable streamers such as CaseOh and moistcr1tikal streamed the demo during the event.

In Rewind 99, players run the last video rental store in the town of Reshoot Springs while navigating the rise of a corporate streaming rival known as RentNet. Players manage inventory, help customers, customize their shop, and explore an open world filled with strange characters and unconventional side hustles.
Throughout the game, players can unlock activities such as installing a Mechanical Bull for customers to ride and bet on, hiring a Repo Man to recover overdue rentals, running a Claw Machine filled with collectible prizes, partnering with an Illicit Candy Dealer to boost customer spending, and experimenting with Movie Mixing to create original in-game films. These were the side hustles available in the demo.
The Early Access release will introduce four new side hustles. These include starting a Fight Club, where players train their own personal fighter daily to raise their stats and win prizes by entering them into battles. Players can also start a Pizza Delivery Service, driving around Reshoot Springs armed with their Pizza Gun to shoot gooey, cheesy goodness at hungry customers. The Arcade side hustle allows players to earn extra cash and expand their business beyond the Rewind 99 store. Finally, the Ice Cream Bar helps dramatically increase customer foot traffic.

The game also features 99 collectibles, lottery scratchers, full player customization, extensive store upgrades, and cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.
During Steam Next Fest, over 100 creators streamed the demo within the first 48 hours, helping introduce the game to new audiences across streaming platforms.
Rewind 99 will launch on March 11, 2026 at 10:00 AM CT.
