Roguelike tower defense from Ant Workshop and Wales Interactive showcases new demo ahead of May 2026 launch
Wales Interactive has announced that Into the Slimy Mines, developed by Ant Workshop, will be part of Steam’s upcoming Tower Defense Fest, giving players another chance to try the game ahead of its May 2026 launch.

Following February’s Steam Next Fest, the team has updated the demo so players can once again dig into the slime infested moon and experiment with new strategies, cards, and defenses. Into the Slimy Mines blends roguelike tower defense with a card driven twist. Players dig tunnels, expand their mining rig, rescue their scattered crew and build increasingly ridiculous combos to keep those frackin’ slimes from overrunning the operation. Dig, build, defend… and get off of this moon.
About Into the Slimy Mines

Working for Ironkilt Intergalactic Industries is tough work. It gets even tougher when your mining vessel crash lands on a slime infested moon and your crew ends up scattered across the mines.
Armed with a deck of cards and a healthy dose of stubborn dwarven determination, players must dig tunnels, rescue their crewmates, and defend their rig from endless waves of slimes. Expand your tunnels using Dig cards, place cannons and gadgets to hold the line, and discover powerful combos as you delve deeper into dangerous mining locations in a fight to save your crew and make it home with the cargo intact.
Key Features of Into the Slimy Mines
- Dig your own defences by using cards to excavate tunnels and shape the battlefield.
- Build powerful strategies by collecting cards and booster packs to expand your rig.
- Choose between three unique factions: ANVIL, WARHAMMER, and PICKAXE.
- Upgrade defences by combining matching cards to create stronger cannons, gadgets, and support systems.
- Defend against increasingly dangerous slime waves using turrets, blockades, lures, and gadgets.
Steam Tower Defense Fest marks the first major themed event appearance for Into the Slimy Mines, offering strategy fans their first opportunity to discover the game outside of Steam Next Fest. The demo highlights the core loop of digging, building, defending, and hopefully escaping the moon before the Boss decides another dwarf deserves your job

Into the Slimy Mines launches in May 2026 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Other Card Game News: Strategic exploration card game, Roots Devour, launched on Steam back in January.
