Broken Ranks has announced a new mode for those who aren’t afraid of challenges
Whitemoon Games has announced a new update: Trials of the Lodge – a completely new mode coming to Broken Ranks on December 16. It offers a fresh take on the turn-based MMORPG, introducing roguelite-inspired elements: shifting map layouts, random enemies, and variable effects that make every run different.
The Wrocław-based studio has decided to do something they haven’t done before. You could say the new mode – clearly inspired by roguelite design – will be a “game within the game.” At the same time, they note that this is one of the most time-consuming projects of recent months and an important step toward expanding the game with new types of activities.

With each attempt, players will encounter a different path layout, a new set of enemies, and changing effects that influence the course of each run. The creators of the turn-based MMO want every trial to demand fresh decision-making, with choices made between battles being just as important as the fights themselves. The mode will be available across several level brackets, with a fairly low start at level 35. What’s more, it will offer both solo and party versions.

Additional motivation to take on the challenge regularly will come from weekly resets and a permanent progression system that allows players to grow stronger within the mode itself and also outside of it. Naturally, rewards will also be part of the experience.
According to the developers, Trials of the Lodge are meant to be “a place of ambitious challenges” and “a space for tactical experimentation under shifting conditions.”

More details are expected to appear soon, as the update approaches.
