Players can run the world’s last video rental store!
Indie developer Gunmetal Games today launched the free public demo for Rewind 99, its open-world video rental store simulator, now available on Steam.
The demo gives players access to the first two in-game days – approximately 40 minutes of gameplay – allowing them to step into the role of a struggling video store owner in the strange town of Reshoot Springs. Players will stock shelves, serve customers, explore the open world, and begin their battle against the corporate streaming giant, RentNet.

In addition to managing the daily operations of their store, players can unlock early side hustles such as installing a Mechanical Bull to bet on customers’ riding skills, hiring a Repo Man to recover overdue rentals, running a Claw Machine filled with collectible prizes, partnering with an Illicit Candy Dealer to boost customer spending, and experimenting with Movie Mixing to create original in-game films.

The demo also introduces players to Rewind 99’s broader progression systems, including 99 unique collectibles, lottery scratchers, player and store customization, and numerous secrets hidden throughout Reshoot Springs.
Rewind 99 will be featured in Steam Next Fest beginning February 23, 2026, with planned demo updates that aim to expand the playable experience even further.
The free demo is available now on Steam.
