Indie developer Heavy Lunch Studio released Hermit and Pig, a story-rich, turn-based adventure RPG, on Steam today. A new launch trailer also premiered on IGN’s GameTrailers.
Hermit and Pig follows an elderly hermit and his best (and only) friend pig as they are reluctantly pulled into a corporate conspiracy threatening the local people and wildlife. As players venture beyond Hermit’s secluded home, they’ll forage mushrooms, battle hostile wildlife and corporate forces, and investigate strange disturbances while searching for a mythical mushroom said to hold the key to restoring balance.

The game blends classic pixel-art RPG aesthetics with a unique art style and mechanical twists, including turn-based key-combo combat, in-battle mini-games, and dialogue encounters that function as their own form of combat due to the protagonist’s social anxiety. Throughout the adventure, the game balances humor with deeper themes about community, cooperation, and resisting oppressive systems.

The game is designed with player choice in mind, including accessibility and customization features that allow players to tailor combat styles, disable timers, or focus on story progression.

Hermit and Pig is available now on Steam for $14.99 USD, with a 10% launch discount available for a limited time. The game is currently available in English.
