Barony’s Next Expansion Brings High Fantasy to the Deadly Depths

It’s time to experience the dungeon in a whole new way with the Deserters & Disciples DLC for Barony. Turning Wheel LLC is proud to announce the release of their latest expansion to Barony which includes five new playable Classes and Races, making Deserters & Disciples the largest of Barony’s DLC expansions! To support these new characters, Barony has been significantly updated with the free Instruments of Destruction: Part 1 release.

As with prior Barony DLC, each new playable race has a signature class:

Gremlins are short, wily, and mischievous. The only race in this DLC who Shopkeepers refuse to trade with! They get an extra boost from vandalizing the dungeon.

The Sapper starts with the Frypan, allowing for on-the-go Cooking. With a powerful flail, flammable greaseballs, and the Booby Trap spell, Sappers have a penchant for destruction.

The Dryad grows magical foliage to plant shrubs, healing friendlies and producing nutritious nuts to eat. Its natural magic provides defensive thorns and roots in battle!

The Scion shows off the three new schools of magic with equal skill. Summoning the durable Earth Sprite as a guardian, the Scion also wields the powerful Archon Scepter, rechargeable by sacrificing spells.

The Myconid grows a defensive cap that can be used to plant mushroom traps, doubling as a fungal food source! The mushrooms’ toxic spores help weaken enemies for a decisive takedown (or escape)!

The Hermit uses debilitating spells on foes to empower a homemade shillelagh, taking threats down with a mystical bonk! A beloved duck pet is always nearby, distracting enemies when it isn’t diving for fish!

Gnomes have a nose for gold, and improved magical prowess, in exchange for more limited potential in physical strength. Though widely distrusted, their ability to fashion jewels may help them to make friends.

Bards play magical music to enhance their party with instruments that each provide a different inspirational buff. Their deadly rapiers allow them to parry and riposte with expert finesse!

The Salamanders’ hearts blaze with magical fire, getting hotter as they rampage! When cold, they are stony and tough. A hot salamander burns bright with glorious radiance. Watch out for flaming breath!

Paladins can add holy light to their claymore’s powerful strikes, perfect for banishing undead and demonic foes. Their Holy Symbols can be used to protect themselves and allies before a fight.

Instruments of Destruction: Part 1

  • Overhauled magic system with dozens of new spells spread across three new magic skills: Sorcery, Thaumaturgy, and Mysticism
  • New treasure rooms spread through the dungeons, locked by iron, bronze, silver, and gold locks. Seek out the keys to claim the prizes hidden within.
  • Enhanced level design in the Caves and Citadel levels.
  • Workbench and Cauldron stations now appear in the dungeons, which allow Tinkering and Alchemy without needing an Alembic or Tinkerer’s Kit! The Cauldron also introduces cooking, where adventurers can now consolidate their food into rations and enhance them with flavorings to provide buffs.
  • Innumerable RPG tweaks, making each stat more useful, and providing more variety between classes. Your stats now influence your HP and MP gains and regeneration, your ability to pierce foes with ranged weapons, and influence your spell power depending on the school of magic you’re casting from, and much more.

All of this is coming to Windows, Linux, Mac, and Nintendo Switch! Enjoy the brand new content with the Deserters and Disciples DLC and the Instruments of Destruction: Part 1 update for Barony!
