Craft, survive, recruit rebel animals, and fight back human invaders
Beak Berry Games is announcing that Woodland Rebels, a 2D survival game is currently under development. A trailer for the game has been released and the Steam page is now public.
A mysterious energy of the woodland has started to transform some of the wild animals into humanoid form. This gave them the ability to use tools, wield weapons, build structures and grow crops. Animal villagers started gathering into small scattered towns, and are more concerned about their own village problems. It’s your job as a player to rally the animals to your side to face a common threat: human invaders.

Woodland Rebels is a survival game with town management elements. Play as one of the available animal species and influence the fate of the woodland. Generate a random open world with various biomes, face hunger and natural disasters, and muster an animal rebellion to fight waves of human enemies.
Key Features
- A 2D survival game that feels less “lonely” than similar experiences. In Woodland Rebels, you can assign roles to npc villagers to let them help you perform tasks. Villagers can become very helpful, but can also be a hurdle if you don’t treat them well.
- It features a unique and interesting theme that involves humanoid animals resisting humans invading their forest to cut trees, hunt animals, and disrupt the peace.
- A quite open-ended sandbox game in an open world, so your actions aren’t limited by a fixed story. Steal from a town, and expect to get attacked by the villagers. Or help them with their requests, so they give you gifts, teach you new crafting recipes, and help you fight enemies. Animals in their true form can still be hunted or tamed.
- The game will involve the community as much as possible for feedback, and we will release periodic free updates to add more content. We also want to support mods to make it easier for players to create their own scenario, items, characters and more.
