About Bittersweet Birthday
You wake up in a strange facility with no recollection of who you are or how you got there. That is, until a voice calling themselves “Ada” on the other end of an intercom warns you that you’re being hunted and promises to help you escape.
With no choice, you must fight your way to survive. Who is Ada and what strange world lies on the other side of the walls? Are you being hunted by friend or foe? Challenge your limits, unravel your past, and celebrate the one day you can’t escape.
Bittersweet Birthday is a story-driven action-adventure game where every fight is personal, every victory is hard earned, and every clue is a step toward uncovering the truth lying somewhere inside the miasma of mysteries. Between fights, catch your breath in a vibrant village full of strange and endearing characters. Complete side quests, dig into local mysteries, and enjoy a surprising amount of heartfelt downtime.
Gameplay
Every encounter is a one on one showdown with one of your nemeses. Read your enemy, master their rhythm, and adapt to their patterns that blend Soulslike precision with bullet hell chaos. Punch, kick, block, dodge, and parry your way through multiple phases that feel like a final boss each time. Tweak the challenge to your liking through the Memory System: gameplay modifiers, directly tied to the character’s past. They can make the fights easier or harder, but never trivial.
Hang Out
When you’re not dodging death, kick back and hang out! Challenge a chaotic round of rock paper scissors: fighting game edition! Test your aim at darts. Or hunt down all 48 Gachapon collectibles, ranging from cool to cute to creepily bizarre. Because even heroes need a break… right?
