The Ultimate Co-op Challenge: Stuck Together – A Test of Friendship and Physics

Stuck Together

If you’re walking into this review having never heard of Stuck Together, prepare for a premise that’s equal parts hilarious and horrifying: you and a friend control two action figures who have been glued together at the torso by an unhinged teenage owner (they clearly have no aura). Your shared goal is to escape the “House of Horrors” that is this kid’s home, navigating five full-scale rooms (starting with the messy bedroom in the demo).

This is a strictly two-player co-op experience, available online or via local split-screen/Remote Play. Think of it as a physics-based climbing game in the vein of titles, i.e. Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, QWOP, or Mount Your Friends, but with an extreme co-op twist. Each player controls two of the action figures’ four limbs; you’re literally tied to your partner, relying on clear communication, coordination, and a hefty dose of patience.

This is not a game for the faint of heart, or for friendships on shaky ground. The difficulty is intentional, and the physics-based climbing mechanics are unforgiving.

  • Ultimate Test of Teamwork: The core mechanic is brilliant. Since you’re stuck together, simple actions like moving forward, swinging across a gap, or grabbing a ledge become complex, shared endeavors. When you and your partner finally nail a tricky section with synchronized precision, the sense of accomplishment is immense; a truly rewarding co-op high.
  • Physics-Driven Mayhem: The flailing, unpredictable movement of your two-headed toy is the main source of comedy. Watching your friend (or yourself) slip, tumble, and drag the other player down after a successful climb is a riot. It’s built for laughs and streamer-friendly moments.
  • Unique 90s Nostalgia: The setting; a giant, chaotic teenage bedroom filled with retro toys, VHS tapes, and chunky furniture, provides a distinct and appealing backdrop. It feels like a Toy Story escape mission with a sadistic edge.
  • The “Hand-tagonist”: The looming threat of the “hand-tagonist” (your giant, unseen owner) is a fun touch. Just when you think you’ve made progress, a giant hand might appear to smack you back to the floor, adding a layer of unpredictable, unfair-but-funny hazard.
  • Inherent Frustration: Let’s be blunt: you will fall. A lot. The physics are deliberately wobbly, and progress is slow and often lost in an instant. For players who prefer tight, responsive controls and consistent progress, this can quickly become a rage-quit nightmare.
  • Communication is Mandatory: If you or your partner struggles with clear, calm communication under pressure, this game will expose it. Poor communication doesn’t just slow you down; it guarantees a frustrating tumble. It demands a level of verbal choreography most games don’t.
  • Potential for Repetitive Setbacks: While the rooms are varied, the moment-to-moment gameplay loop involves grabbing, swinging, slipping, and falling back to the start of a difficult section. How well you tolerate this repetition will define your experience.
If you enjoy..Verdict
I-hate-you-but-I-love-you co-op experiences (like It Takes Two or Overcooked! on steroids)YES. This is a must-buy for a dedicated co-op partner and a great addition to your party game rotation.
Physics-based challenges and the pure chaos of games like QWOP or Getting Over ItYES. The movement and climbing are the main challenge, and mastering them is the reward.
Tense, challenging platforming that tests your coordination and patience to the absolute limit.YES. It’s a true test of grit.
Relaxing, casual gaming with smooth, responsive controls and easy progression.NO. You will likely not have fun. Prepare for friction, both in the game and with your friend.

Final Takeaway for a New Player:

Stuck Together is a fantastic, chaotic co-op experience that perfectly executes its punishing premise. The controls are intentionally clunky and the challenge is brutal, but that is precisely the point. Go into this knowing it’s designed to be difficult, frustrating, and a true test of your partnership. If your friendship survives the escape from the first room, you’ll be treated to one of the most memorable co-op games of the year. Try the demo first to see if your patience, and your friendship, has what it takes!

Rating: E10+ (for Everyone 10 and older) – Likely for Fantasy Violence and Mild Language (Contextual)

Rating Rationale: The game features “fantasy violence” in the sense that your action figure characters can be knocked around or damaged (but no graphic violence). The main caution for this game is not its visuals, but the high potential for intense player frustration, which could lead to verbal arguments or strong language between co-op partners. The in-game themes are lighthearted and toy-based.
