Discover how hundreds of thousands of trees can burn in real time across a 16 sq. kilometer multiplayer world, and learn about the team’s vision for what’s coming next.
Indie developer Exkee is proud to present the impressive fire propagation system powering Rescue Ops: Wildfire, an immersive and dynamic firefighter simulation game. To celebrate, the studio also reveals another surprise: its first road map. It is the perfect opportunity to take a broader look at the project’s future, as it heads toward Early-Access in 2026 on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox PC.
About Rescue Ops: Wildfire
Step into the boots of elite firefighters facing large-scale wildfires in this cooperative simulation. Play solo or team up with up to four players to coordinate operations, contain the blaze, and protect civilians under extreme conditions. Use specialized equipment and vehicles, and deploy helicopters and water bombers to stop the fire’s spread. Every mission will test your strategy, teamwork, and composure as you balance urgent rescues with the fight against an uncontrollable force of nature.

About the Fire Propagation System
Since the very beginning of Rescue Ops: Wildfire’s development, Exkee has had one clear goal: to create the most realistic wildfire simulation ever seen in a video game. This new video dives into how the team tackled the technical challenges of bringing massive fires to life, balancing performance and realism across a 16 km² multiplayer world.
Through hard work and innovation, they scaled from around 5,000 interactive objects to over 500,000 unique, burnable “cells”, representing more than a million individual plants – each reacting dynamically to real-world factors such as vegetation type and ignition properties, wind vector and strength, and terrain topology.
The result is a living, reactive simulation where every flame and player action truly matters.

The Roadmap
Before the end of the year, Exkee plans to host its first closed playtest for selected community members. 2026 will be a major milestone, featuring an open playtest, a Steam demo with updated features, and the game’s Early Access launch in Q3 on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox PC. This version will introduce new features, a new map, and vehicles from various countries, including the USA. The studio aims to grow the project hand in hand with its community, using player feedback to shape the road toward a full launch in 2027.Â
This roadmap only reflects medium-term development goals and may be updated in the future.
